While at the craft store the other day getting things for some other projects I came across these cute hand towels. 2 for 3.50. I found some ribbon that matched and got to work.Just a warning: I am not good at tutorials because there isn't any real rhyme or reason to my sewing. I just imagine things then sew where I think I should... Un-picking is one of my talents! :)
So, I folded the towel in half and sewed down the side. I wanted my bag to have a bottom so I didn't sew all the way down. With the open area I squished it down so it looked like a T then sewed along both edges.

Then I folded the T up into the bag and pinned it. You find that if you don't do this step then the corners will poke out at the bottom. Which is fine. It just isn't what I was looking for.
Then I sewed along the edge. This is what it looks like on the outside...(Don't worry I un-picked the black and re-did it in white. I just wanted you to be able to see the stitches.)
I wanted a pocket on the inside. so with the other towel I got. I cut out the size I wanted and folded it in half and sewed along the edges.
See, working pocket. Make sure you leave a little lip on the back of the pocket so you have something to sew to the bag.
Then I just put it where I wanted it and sewed it to the inside of the bag using the lip I left.
Then for the straps. I used the ribbon I bought that matched. I picked the length I wanted cut two of the same size then with the bag closed stuck 1 end of each piece in the bag and pinned it. That way I didn't have to measure and they were in the same place. I sewed the ribbon in then did the same to the other side.I thought that the bag needed a little embellishment so I sewed a piece of ribbon around the top.
I decided to do a bow where the ends of the ribbon met. It was a really easy bow. I sewed two loops. Then I wrapped a piece of ribbon around it and glued it.
Here is my bag..:)Here is the inside of the bag with the pocket.
Super easy, super quick, super cute, and super useable.
I am actually really excited about how it turned out.. I was a little worried!
