Canvas Growth Chart

 I have been wanting to do a growth chart for so long. I still remember when my mom use to have us stand against the wall in the pantry and mark our height at the beginning of the school year. I loved it. But I also realized that if for some reason they move or sell the house that would be gone. So I wanted one I could take with me. So, I looked around a lot and I saw the cute 2x4 ones and I thought about it but realized what a pain it would be to move that. I found a canvas one of etsy but it cost 50$....SERIOUSLY?! My last resort was to make one and this is what we came up with.

I got a piece of canvas that was about 7 feet, some stencils, a ruler, a black sharpie, some ribbon, a couple dowels and some balls for the ends of the dowels.

It was actually pretty easy. I followed a ruler and drew in the marks. Glued the canvas to the poles and TADA!! Also for the children they each get their own color of sharpie for the markings which makes it easy and fun for them to find their measurements.

This project probably took 3 hours MAX if that.

Here it is all rolled up for easy travel if necessary!

Menu Board

Once again Craftywives have put me back into craft mode.

This was the craft last month. Isn't that the cutest menu board ever? It has so many functions too!! I had to make one.

 There are a few things that I love about craft night. One being that I get to craft with friends and two being that all the stuff is ready and I just have to put it together.

 This was a piece of metal, modgepodge, paper, and ribbon. We did end up laminating the little papers so that you could wipe them off and re-use them. The little bottle caps for the days are magnets too.

I love the little pocket to keep all the papers right there and I love that there is a notepad hooked on for notes too. It has been very helpful for cooking even if I don't use it for everyday.

 Oh yeah and the best part. It matched my kitchen perfectly!!

Tissue Paper Flowers

I recently got a new calling in Young Women's I am really excited. A couple Sundays ago we had New Beginnings which is a night where we talk about the theme for the year and talk about the values of Young Women. My friend Cassie and I were in charge of Decoration. We decided to make tissue paper flowers out of the value colors.

We followed this Tutorial. They were so easy!

 Some of the bigger flowers looked a little bare in the middle so we just crumpled up another color of tissue paper and put in in the middle.

 They turned out cute and looked really good on the tables.

I know some seriously talented people. Look at these cute Christmas Blocks!

My Sister-in-Law Emily asked if I would cut some vinyl out for her and she would give me a set of the blocks. I jumped all over that. They are seriously so cute and add some color.

"The Stockings were Hung.."

Craftywives.blogspot.com did another super cute craft. I wasn't able to go to the actual night but I wasn't missing out on this craft so I bought the kit.

I painted the handles red. then let them dry and painted over them with a cream color and used some sand paper to antique them.

I painted the board red. It took a couple coats. Then I used some sandpaper around the edges.

I added the vinyl and then put modge podge over the whole thing.

I added the handles and this was the final project.

Super cute right? I love how it looks actually with stockings on it.

Added some vinyl letters and a cute bow at the top.

I seriously almost left this at home of purpose... I love it.
I love that something so easy can turn out so cute and add so much personality.

Treat Jar

I seriously need a new camera.... Sorry these pictures struggle.
I just had my awesome family reunion! When I say awesome I mean AWESOME! I look forward to it every year. We have an auction every year to earn money for the next years reunion. This year I decided to make a few things for the reunion. Here is one of them.
I bought these jars at a yard sale. 6 for $2.50....My husband and I had a little bit of a miscommunication and instead of offering $2.00 for them I ended up with 2 boxes of 6...Next time I will make sure I hear my husband when he says offer $2 not get 2 boxes.. Oh well. They are cute and I will use them a lot I'm sure.I bought a bag of Starburst and put them in the jar...(after I washed it out)added some cute ribbon and made a big bow type thing at the top.Then I used the cricut to add some letters.
Here is the final product. I loved how it turned out and it went for a good price at the auction too....:)SUCCESS!

Alphabet Rocks

I made them... Aren't they cute!

Kyden Loves them. The only problem is even after spraying the polyurethane spray on it they still peeled off and it took forever to paint the letters on because they didn't show up very well. Not my fault that my craft store only had black rocks. But I like them. If you have any suggestions for me to keep it from chipping?

Welcome Mirror

I have this mirror right by my door that is really useful to hand stuff on.. It is also really boring....
When I went to bunco the other day I noticed my friend had a mirror just like mine but her's was way cuter. She had decorated it with her name using vinyl. I like the idea but since my name is already everywhere I just decided to do this.

I really, really like it. It was also so easy.

DIY: Spring Puff Ball

I saw this Tutorial here. I had everything I needed ( I use coffee filters to drain my meat, works like a charm.) anyway I followed that tutorial except I only did the front of the cardboard.

I wanted to give it some color to make it springy so I took some colored ink pads and I brushed them along the edges of the coffee filters.
Then I made some letters with some stamps and my very own handwriting!

I then glued them on. Looks cute huh?

Sometimes it makes me really sad that the camera really doesn't do justice to the color...I love it and it adds color to my house and gets me ready for Spring... Even if it is snowing outside while I type this...

DIY: Modge Podge Easter Eggs

You knew these were coming right? I did say I would probably do them for every holiday. Lucky for me they had Styrofoam eggs...Cute huh?

DIY: Easter Egg Wreath

Once again My craft budget ran out.. Lucky for me, I save pretty much everything! So, this craft was made entirely by stuff I bought last year. I saw this here. I loved it. However, since I was out of money I had to use what I had. I only had a few eggs so I made my wreath much smaller.

And the pink grass in hers is adorable but I had to use green. All my eggs were different sizes and stuff but it worked.. I love it.

Probably my favorite Easter Craft so Far!

DIY: Button Easter Egg!

I saw this idea here....Hers is way more classy than mine. I didn't have enough buttons of one color to do it like that so this is what I did.
Took some cardboard and some left over black material (from the aforementioned t-shirt blanket I am making) covered the cardboard
Then I glued on the buttons. Make sure if you plan to sew the buttons on don't get glue in the holes of the buttons also, you may want to sew on the buttons to the material then glue the material to the cardboard, just saying it would probably be easier.

I didn't have a picture frame and the back of this looked terrible with all the thread so I put some ribbon in the middle and glued another piece of covered cardboard to the back.
I put a little bit of lace around the edges, it needed a little something and this was all that I had. It is a little different.
But every time I walk past it it makes me smile.... It is growing on me.

DIY-Pin Cushion

I saw a picture of this a couple months ago but I cannot for the life of me find it.. So I am sorry that I cannot give proper credit. Anyway here is my cute tutorial for a cute but useful Pin cushion.
I went to DI and found a cute picture frame for like 50 cents. Then I painted it red because that was the color of paint I already had.

I cut a circle out of the black fabric I had for my quilt (still under construction) and cut out some batting. (I bought a little bit of batting for 2$ at Ace. I still have more than 3/4 of it left.)

I took the glass out of the picture frame put in my material and batting. I lifted up the corners and glued down the material to the back of the frame. To secure it.

Then I added some ribbon a cute sticker and some cute material rosettes made out of material scraps.

I absolutely love it and it is so useful to have the pins right there that I can grab and use!
