Quiet Book Cover and Completion!!

For the cover

-Material for cover

-material for straps

-ribbon for tying

-and any writing you want on it.

 I cut the fabric for the cover 11 -12 inches. about 2-3 inches taller than my pages for the length I cut it big so I could cut some off when I measured it. (therefore I don't have exact measurements. (Sorry...) Also the material you see pictured about is folded in half. so there are two pieces that size.

Turn fabric for handles inside out. Sew along edges. Make sure you leave an opening so that you can flip the material the right side out.

Same goes with the fabric for the cover only you need to mark where you want your handles and your string. Make sure that you put them in between the two fabrics.

 So when you flip it out it looks like this.

I wanted to sew a few things with words on them. So I left one side of the cover completely open so I could sew them on. This one is on the inside cover.

 I read the idea somewhere to put the pages on the rings that open and close so that if you have a lot of kids you could take the pages out and pass them along. I liked that idea. But I didn't want the pages just sitting in the cover so I attached some shoelace to the middle of the cover. (this was a little tricky so make sure that you actually put the pages in to see where it folds and stuff) make sure your leave a little spot int he middle of each piece of shoelace so you can put in the rings.

 Then I hooked the rings into those. It hold pretty nicely. As far as putting the pages together I sewed two together back to back. Then using an eyelet tool I put 3 eyelet holes in each set of pages and added eyelets.

 Thanks for sticking this thing through with me. It took a little longer than I thought but I love how it turned out. I also feel like I put it together in a way that if I do decide to add more pages I can and it won't be a huge process. Let me know how your quiet books are coming.

Seasons

-1 Pellon Page

- 2 pieces of grass felt

-1 Brown tree, with just branches

-7 leaves, 7 snow pieces, 7 leaves, 7 flowers

- 4 squares of whit with the season written on it (not pictures till a later picture)

-4 squares of colored felt to go behind the seasons name (not pictured till a later picture)

-25 sew on snaps

 Sew down the tree and the smaller piece of grass

 Sew around the bottom and edges of the bottom piece of grass. This will be a pocket to hold our things. I wish  that I would've made my pocket bigger. There are a lot of things that go in there.

I didn't want to have to sew 7 snaps on for each little tree embellishment and I was worried that the felt would tear so I put each leaf on another piece of felt and sometimes I put two. Leaving me with just 5 snaps to sew on per season.( see pictures below)

I sewed on the snaps to the tree and one to the pocket.

Then I added a snap to the back of the season nametag and the embellishments. 

Make sure that the snaps that are on the paper are the same way and all the embellishments have the same side of the snap. Because of this you will have a lot of spare snap sides because you don't need as many on the page. Does that make sense?

I love this page even if it was the hardest to do. Only because sewing on all those snaps was a little bit of a pain.  

You should be proud of yourself though this is the last page that I will be making for the quiet book!!

Quiet Book Page 9

Shoe and shoelace page

-one pellon page

- one black felt circle

- one white semi circle

-shoelace

-one blue and one white piece of felt cut like a shoe

-6 eyelets

Sew the two show pieces together.

Add the tip of the shoe

 Then sew on the black circle

 Add the 6 eyelets and then thread the shoelace. I didn't want the shoelace to come out so I also sewed the shoelace to the shoe in the middle.

 Sew the shoe to your pellon page

There you have it. Teach your kid to tie shoes.... or knots either way.

Quiet Book Page 8

-Pellon Page

-2 strips of colored felt

-3 pieces of ribbon

-zipper

-buckle

-2 small squares of felt color

Sew one colored strip along the bottom of the page (mostly for looks)

Sew the tops of the three ribbons at the top of the page under the other color of felt.

 Sew on the zipper. make sure you sew it so that you can still zip it.

 Sew on the ends of the buckle and cover the ends up with the colored felt.

And you're done.

This page will allow kids to use their hands and fine motor skills

-Pellon page

-2 of each color of shape and a pellon piece

-Velcro

-Fabric pen

1st I sewed Velcro on the back of the pellon shape and then sewed the other velcro piece on one of the colored shapes.

Then sew the other colored shape (without velcro) to the pellon shape

Sew the colored shape with the velcro on it to the pellon page.

Add a title a you are done!

Buttons and Flowers

-One pellon page

-5 green stems

-1 pot

-5 button

-5 different colored flowers with a pellon piece to go on the back.

 I sewed the bottom of the pot down so it wouldn't move Then I positioned the stems and sewed along the bottom of them. Then sewed up the sides to hold them in place.

 Finish sewing the pot down

 Sew on the buttons at the end of the stems. (by hand obviously)

 Sew the pellon piece to the back of the flower and then cut a button hole in the flowers.

 Then put on the flowers. They can button and unbutton the flowers to their hearts content and in any of the places. I picked the same button just different colors for the purpose.

Quiet Book: Page 4 & 5

This page is basically 2 but it counts as 1 seeing as it goes together.

-1 pellon page

-black road pieces cut to size

-small yellow pieces for the road

- car

-ribbon

-Red square for garage 

-And any thing you want to put on the garage for decoration

First I just sewed on the road so it would stay.

 Then sew on the yellow (I just did one straight line down the whole road and put the yellow things where I wanted them.)

Sew your decor on the garage

Sew on the bottom of the garage and then sew the ribbon to the page... Sew this really good seeing as I am sure it will be pulled on.

Tie your ribbon around the car.

Put the car in the garage and then sew the top around it. You will need to have a little bubble so that the car will fit.

 See the car tucks in their nice and safe.
