Menu Board

Once again Craftywives have put me back into craft mode.

This was the craft last month. Isn't that the cutest menu board ever? It has so many functions too!! I had to make one.

 There are a few things that I love about craft night. One being that I get to craft with friends and two being that all the stuff is ready and I just have to put it together.

 This was a piece of metal, modgepodge, paper, and ribbon. We did end up laminating the little papers so that you could wipe them off and re-use them. The little bottle caps for the days are magnets too.

I love the little pocket to keep all the papers right there and I love that there is a notepad hooked on for notes too. It has been very helpful for cooking even if I don't use it for everyday.

 Oh yeah and the best part. It matched my kitchen perfectly!!

Tissue Paper Flowers

I recently got a new calling in Young Women's I am really excited. A couple Sundays ago we had New Beginnings which is a night where we talk about the theme for the year and talk about the values of Young Women. My friend Cassie and I were in charge of Decoration. We decided to make tissue paper flowers out of the value colors.

We followed this Tutorial. They were so easy!

 Some of the bigger flowers looked a little bare in the middle so we just crumpled up another color of tissue paper and put in in the middle.

 They turned out cute and looked really good on the tables.

Halloween Crayon Picture

I went to a Women's Day Out with my sister up North and they had these really cute pictures and luckily my mom had purchased a couple. They are so cute and really easy to do. It is also such a fun idea.

We got a piece of muslin and traced a cute picture onto it. (We also got a Thanksgiving & Christmas one. I will post those later)

Then you take some regular crayons and color of the material.You need to color a little darker than you need it because it will get a little lighter when you are finished.
After you are done coloring put some paper on top of it and use your iron to seal the crayons. Use cotton setting no steam.I'm not positive how long I left it one but I did it until the crayon stopped transferring to the paper on top.Then you can either embroider or use Marker to trace the outlines.
I am not a huge sewer and I like to get things done pretty fast so I went for the sharpie.
Crazy how much the marker adds to the picture.Then I just put it int he frame. I loved how it turned out.
Isn't that fun idea? I bet kids would love it and I am pretty sure you could use any fabric.Happy Haunting

DIY: Patriotic Plant Decor

When I go to the craft store I walk around and just load my cart up with holiday stuff. Then I just kinda put stuff together till it is all used. That is how I came up with these.
Felt stars, star buttons, Fourth of July stickers, skewers, and patriotic ribbon.

One trick that I have learned is that if you cut the back of the button off you can just glue it and it works fine and doesn't stick out.

I just put a line of glue down the middle of the ribbon and wrapped it around the skewers. I put a sticker and some buttons on 3 of the felt stars. Then I took a plain one and matched it to them. I glued the skewer between the two stars with hot glue!

So patriotic. So easy. So cute.

I think they are perfect!

DIY: Flag Board

Easy, patriotic craft.
I had a board laying around the house. I drew the lines with a pencil then painted it. After it dried I took some sandpaper to it.

DIY: America Banner

I used the same paper that I used on my blocks. Which is nice because they tie the room together.

This is my first banner and I am excited with how it turned out the only thing I would do differently is that I would back this paper with a hard card stock. It is really flimsy paper. I used hemp to tie the triangles together. I also had them laminated so they will keep longer. But next time like I said I would use card stock and modge podge.

DIY: USA Blocks

I already had my wooden blocks.. It really is the best idea to go to a home depot and buy a whole 2x4 and just cut the whole thing up.
I bought some cute red white and blue paper and I modge- podged it onto the blocks. Then I just cut out USA in vinyl. Because the paper was so cute I didn't even have to worry about embellishments! I think they look awesome with the midge podge balls. I also love that you can sit them down or stand them up!My son wanted to show off his blocks... He set them up and everything.

Cabinet Cover

This is our game cabinet (thing) and when we bought it I told Kirk that I would hate looking at that empty spot. I was right I did. Wouldn't you?

So, I decided to do something about it. I measured some black material I already had and cut out. I then seamed along the edges. Unfortunatley measuring is apparently not my strongest talent and it was too short. So I grabbed the cute green fabric I had bought to put a cute picture on the front and I made it longer. Then I put some velcro on my cabinet and on the corners of my panel.

I actually love the green lines on it. Then I needed something on the front so it wasn't just plain black. I made these cute fabric rosettes. Just a piece of the green and a piece of the black. I made a bunch of different sizes. I arranged them on the black panel and did a quick needle & thread sew on job.

I actually love how it turned out. I love how the green and black go together. Ignore the finger print marks. That would be the decorating skills of my son!
